The frogs are chirping
The crickets are in concert
My eyes are closing

The air smells like dirt
Coming through the front window
The fan is humming

Mortality

Ashes in the wind
Floating down the Wisconsin
From a sandy beach

Recent events in my life have me thinking about death*, mine and others. I'd like to be taken out to a sand bar in the Wisconsin River and stacked up on a bunch of oak skids and lit up. eventually the river will wash me to the Mississippi, then the Gulf of Mexico, hopefully eventually to Scandinavia and around the globe. There are some logistical concerns with getting that much lumber out onto a sand bar, but hey that won't be my problem. If it does prove to be impossible, burn me outdoors on a wood fire and bury me under an oak tree. If anyone has a decent use for my skull, they are welcome to it (productions of the Danish play and whatnot). I used to think I wanted my ashes or skull put up in the grid or backstage somewhere at whatever theatre company or space I called home, but I don't have one of those and I'm a rolling stone that hasn't had the opportunity to keep the moss off so going down the river would be more fitting.

*No worries, all the people in my life are healthy and my one injured pet is on the mend and will be just fine. I lost a rat a few weeks ago, but he lived a long full life.

Another one about heading west

Hugo's in my head
Like trout in a cold river
Flies dancing above

I have enough cash
To get me to Montana
But not to get home

Forsyth

The wind from the west
Sounds like antelope running
Forsyth is calling

I have a sudden urge to head west. I think The Scavengers Guide to
Haute Cousine is to blame

A little late

When the lilacs bloom
The breeze off B.B. Clark beach
Still has a cold bite

This one would have been more appropriate a couple weeks ago.

5:45 wednesday

Walking home from work
a six pack of Schlitz in hand,
chill wind in my face

On the way home I was dropped off at Jenny St. Market and I picked up some groceries and a 6er of Shlitz (Don't knock it until you've tried the new...old...formula) I had a wonderful walk home. The sun was bright and the wind was cold, just as I like it.

all apologies to Murder by Death

Running hard and fast,
The rain on the roof sounds like
All the slaughterd lambs

I have to rip shit off every now and then. Check out Murder by Death if you haven't already

Garver

Vote yes on Garver
it doesn't cost anything
it may save your life

Truth be told, I really can't see how it would save your life but vote yes anyway.

check out my friends post about it too.

whiskey instead of water

the will to survive
just roll your head to one side
before you vomit

I overindulged the other night celebrating my birthday, but I managed to not choke myself. sometimes we just have to take what we can get.

Stuck behind a train
My head dropping to my chest
Butchering shakespeare

And that pretty much sums up my day. Be well all!

Goodnight Madison

This is so much easier now that I've learned to post from my phone,
now I don't have to remember crap until I get to a computer, I can
post when the muse sings.

Sorry for whining

I am genuinely sorry for whining, I just didn’t sleep well last night and I’m kind of feeling like Trebek’s mother likes it.
